Haku opened the sliding door and sat down, staring at the glowing scenery before him. "I'm back here again...." He thought as he sighed as he gazed out the snowy streets of the Mist Village.
It had been nine years since he sat in the cold winter storm with only a box as his shelter. When he was adopted by Iruka-san, he vowed never to go back... But there he was, now 18 years of age, sitting with his bare feet remembering the cold sensation of the snow, just as he used to.
"Konbanwa," Gaara greeted quietly as he handed him a chocolate chip cookie. "I can't sleep."
Haku smiled. "Neither can I..." He looked at the image of the frowning boy, his hair red as dried blood and black smudges surrounded his fierce green eyes. Haku place a hand under the redhead's chin while removing the black charcoal substance around his shining eyes. "There. Now your eyes resemble the glowing moon." He stared seriously at the boy and finally let out a chuckle, scruffling the boy's hair. He reclaimed his composure and turned back to look outside again. "This was once my home.... I still remember. It snowed almost everyday and it rains during summertime. I never once saw a clear sunny day."
Gaara sat beside him. "I used to live in a place where it never snowed.... But it rained during the wintertime." The redhead chewed on a cookie and held out his hand to catch the falling snow. Haku noticed a small teddy bear sitting on the boy's lap. "Is that from where you lived?" Haku asked as he pointed at the stuffed animal.
Gaara turned red and said, "I had this since I was a little boy... It was my only friend."
"You're lucky to have one," Haku replied, his gaze now lingering on the snowy surface. A snow rabbit wandered its way into the front yard and Haku watched as it sniffed his bare feet. "The only friend I ever had was a snow rabbit.... She only came when it snowed, so I decided to name her 'Yuki'. Look... After all these years, she still remembers me." He stood up and followed the hopping creature, then halted as a dark figure ascended from the trees. He squinted at the darkness and finally saw Him. The figure was a tall man, much taller than Haku, but showed a sign of weakness as he limped weakly towards the street.
"A-Ano...Sir, are you alright?" Haku called out, but was only answered by labored breathing. He folded his arms to shield himself from the snowy breeze and took a stepped towards the man, but was held back by another.
"Haku... Don't help him," Kakashi muttered. "We might regret it later. Now hurry and try to sleep. We'll have an early start tomorrow." He let go of Haku's arm and ushered Gaara back into his room.
The long-haired boy stepped back into the house, but looked back at the man. Yuki hopped around and sniffed the door but reluctantly scurried onto the man's foot, climbing up as the man offered his hand. "Let's go Yuki." He man whispered, his voice as calm as the night. Surely he hadn't heard his conversation about the snow rabbit... Haku watched in awe as the man carried the rabbit and walked off. He muttered something else that Haku couldn't make out.. Perhaps it was a farewell?
Haku slipped into the warm covers of his bed, listening to the prolonged series of Naruto's amplified snoring and whispered, "Gaara-kun..."
"What is it, Haku?"
"The man... He called her Yuki."
With this statement, Haku fell into a deep sleep.

Okay, so i've heard that people have stolen my artwork and put it on their site and it's starting to piss me off. it might not be a big deal to you but it does to me. see, if you want to use my artwork, just ask and i'd be glad to work something out with you. but if you decide to take it and delete the copywrite, then i'd have to do something about it. besides, if you are brilliant enough to delete the copywright and make it look clean, i'm sure you can draw something as good or better than my own artwork.
bottom line is: if you took my artwork, please delete it from your site or put the copywrite back and link to my own site. you know who you are and i know who you are. so please don't be stupid and do so as soon as possible.

People, I'm back.... Not back in U.S. but back on the RP. I've been lucky enough to get internet access in here, but it's slow, so I'll have slower replies. And about the artwork dilemma, i'm surprised that they actually listened to me. *laughs* I thought they'd have kept it. All to the good. ^_^
By the way, happy birthday Neji. We shall celebrate by sitting on a tree branch and drinking beer all night 'til one of us falls off. *laughs* Cheers.
